Let’s be honest — in a fast-paced world that seems more complicated with each passing day, it can be difficult to focus on the simple things in life. We spend our days with our eyes glued to the screen and our brains working in overdrive, sprinting to keep up on the proverbial hamster wheel of life. This month I’d like you to join me in taking a deep breath, bending your knees, and taking a swift jump off of the toil bus — starting with taking a technological pause.
For those of you who have been faithful website visitors or HHH newsletter subscribers, this isn’t the first time we’ve talked about keeping it simple…but let’s be honest, some things bear repeating! This season is full of simple pleasures that involve few things more than your own two feet and beating heart. Drop everything and run through the sprinklers on a warm day. Host an impromptu kickball game with your colleagues in the closest green space. Take an after-dinner stroll around the neighborhood, and leave your phone at home. You just may find that disconnecting, even for a short while, can recharge both your battery, as well as your phone.
What’s your favorite simple pleasure of Summer? I love the first taste of watermelon, long days of hiking, and sharing an outside dinner with friends. Share your favorites, get some ideas from others on our Facebook page… and then put that phone down and enjoy!
